Giant City

 Mette Ingvartsen

prima italiana

Giant City confronts the phenomenae of mobility, change, the transformation of contemporary bodies. Giant City is a study on immaterial architectures, a reflection on bodies and the city, on space-time relations. A physical exploration by seven performers who make and unmake the spacial composition before the spectator's eyes. We are set in front of pure space: directional, non dimensional, non metric, occupied by haecceity, far more than by formatted and perceived objects. A perception more prehensive than visual. The city secretes velocity differentials, slowings and accelerations, changes in orientation, continuous variations. Bodies express the way of being in space, of belonging there, gesturing via the processing of frequencies or by accumulation, independent of measure.
