Endo è una danza esplosiva, in tutti i sensi, dove corpi insaziabili e movimenti incongrui danno luogo ad un gioco esuberante con il presente, con un tocco di estasi e intossicazione. Partendo da un approccio coreografico anticonvenzionale e non uniformato, David Wampach si presenta in duo con la sua storica partner, Tamar Shelef, con cui ha portato in scena opere coreografiche lunatiche e sperimentali. Dietro all'esuberanza vitalista di questo lavoro, si nasconde un intrico di riferimenti culturali che narrano la difficile relazione tra corpo ed espressione nelle tecno-società del controllo. Come esplicito omaggio al movimento Gutai e all'endotismo -una corrente estetica nata negli anni '60 che ha accomunando figure isolate e distanti come Francis Bacon e l'anti-conformista Shuji Terayama nella ricerca di un'integrazione armonica tra strumenti e materia dell'opera - ENDO mette il corpo al centro della performance: è insieme materiale, media, strumento, soggetto e osservatore di uno strano organismo estetico e politico.

In ENDO, originally conceived while in residence in Japan, choreographer David Wampach alongside his long-term interpreter Tamar Shelef, creates a piece that offers a radical take on the body. ENDO could be a lunatic re-enactment imagined by a psychotropic mind, where the performers play an exuberant game with the present, with a hint of ecstasy and intoxication. ENDO re-examines the heritage and customs of performance art that ran in parallel to endoticism (a theorethical movement of the '60s against all forms of exoticism), in which anti-conformist artists like novelist, photographer and filmaker Shuji Terayama and members of the Gutaï group in Japan came to prominence. ENDO puts the body as the centre of danced performance, at once material, media, instrument, subject, and spectator, nourishing the postures adopted on stage, as engaging politically as it is aesthetically.
