Mattin
Mattin, musicista basco, agisce tra noise e impro, usando i feedback generati dal computer per accentuare il processo e il carattere istantaneo della performance improvvisata. La maggior parte dell'esplorazione sonora di Mattin è radicata nel contrasto. Il contrasto tra volumi estremamente alti ed estramemente bassi, e tra il suono fisico e digitale del computer. L'aspetto performativo dell' improvvisazione col computer gli permette di esplorare i differenti significati che la rappresentazione visuale di queste pratiche può avere in differenti contesti. Negli anni passati Mattin ha inoltre sviluppato un interesse per l'uso di freeware (programmi gratuiti e privi di licenza) nella sua pratica artistica.
Mattin is a Basque artist working with noise and improvisation. His work seeks to address the social and economic structures of experimental music production through live performance, recordings and writing. Using a conceptual approach, he aims to question the nature and parameters of improvisation, specifically the relationship between the idea of 'freedom'' and constant innovation that it traditionally implies, and the established conventio Mattin considers improvisation not only as an interaction between musicians and instruments, but as a situation involving all the elements that constitute a concert, including the audience and the social and architectural space. He tries to expose the stereotypical relation between active performer and passive audience, producing a sense of strangeness and alienation that disturbs this relationship.
