Riccardo Benassi
Riccardo Benassi è artista visivo. Nasce in Italia nel 1982, cresce a Cremona, sulle rive del fiume Po, e al momento vive e lavora a Berlino. Muovendosi tra ricerca sonora e visuale dà vita a video, ambienti, installazioni e performance che celebrano e indagano la disfunzione tecnologica e il corto-circuito semantico e associativo. Fa dell’architettura uno strumento immaginativo che la rende un metronomo sociale, volto alla definizione dell’impercettibile erosione sugli avvenimenti provocata della storia. Fra gli agitatori della scena della musica sperimentale underground, dal 2004 è ideatore e promotore insieme a Valerio Tricoli del progetto Phonorama, live electronics collaborativo. Nel 2006 fonda a Berlino con Claudio Rocchetti il duo audio-visivo OLYVETTY. Tra le mostre recenti: le personali Attimi Fondamentali con Piero Frassinelli / Superstudio (Museo Marino Marini, Firenze 2011), 1982 (Macro, Roma 2010), Autostrada Verticale (PAC, Ferrara 2009), e le esposizioni collettive Emerging Talents (CCCS, Firenze 2011) e Elusive a cura di Jimmie Durham (Radio Arte Mobile, Roma 2011).
Riccardo Benassi, visual artist, was born in Italy. He grew up in Cremona, on the banks of the river Po, and currently lives and works in Berlin. Moving between visual and sound research he creates videos, environments, installations and performances that celebrate and investigate the technological dysfunction and the semantic and associative short-circuit. He uses architecture as an imaginative tool, turning it into a social metronome aimed at defining the imperceptible erosion of events caused by history. He is one of the agitators of the underground experimental music scene, since 2004 he is, together with Valerio Tricoli, the creator and promoter of the project Phonorama, a collaborative live electronics. In 2006 he founded in Berlin with Claudio Rocchetti audio-visual the duo OLYVETTY.
