Stoa

Stoa is a theatrical school of physical and philosophical movement supported by Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio from 2002 at the Teatro Comandini di Cesena, first proposed for children, later for adolescents. Stoa - taking its name from the ancient portico where Zenon met with his students (where as a stranger, no one in Athens would offer to rent him a room) - a place made available to the participants during the day as a school for dance and philosophy, as well as for events they planned and organized. This proposal strives to interpret issues of radical self-expression and the world they imagine. Philosophy is not limited to being a history, rather a practice of posing questions and concepts; a movement that gives birth to a concatenation of thought. Only then, being activated by thought, is where the thinker has the same pregnancy as a bodily act. Dance, too, represents a passage of immediate, determined non-verbal expression, functioning in Stoa as a powerful complement to philosophy. (These Stoa manifestations cannot be called an objective of the school, rather the proper conclusion of a process which, cultivated and kept in concentration and reserve, needs, when mature, to manifest itself externally.)
