Animal Jokes (For Animals)

Krõõt Juurak and Alex Bailey demonstrate the results of their research project on the subject of animal humor, focusing in particular on the humor of house pets. Anthropologist Lévi-Strauss stated famously in his Totemism (1962) that "animals are good to think with”. Maybe they are also good to laugh with. Animal Jokes (For Animals) can be viewed by human and non-human audiences alike, although laughter cannot be guaranteed for humans. This performance stems from the long-term research project Autodomestication (presented in Bologna at F.I.S.Co.10) about immaterial labour across species and is an abbreviated version of the project Animal Show, which will premiere in Vienna at WUK in 2015.
